President Trump could be allowed back on Facebook.

Top executives at Meta have announced that the decision to allow Trump back on Facebook is now back on the table.

Nick Chegg who is Meta’s president of global affairs has stated by January 0f 2023 Meta will have its final decision on whether Trump will be allowed back on the platform.

Trump however is interested in facebook’s decision because he has already been using his own social media platform Truth Social.

Fox Business had more on the story:

President Trump could be back on Facebook as soon as January, according to one of the top executives at the social network’s parent company, Meta.

Nick Clegg, Meta’s president of global affairs, said the decision would be up to him and that he isn’t taking it lightly.

Clegg made the announcement at an event hosted by Semafor, a new media organization, in Washington, D.C., on Thursday.

“I am very, very mindful that if you have this significant ability to take decisions which affect the public realm as a private sector company, you need to act with great caution,” Clegg said. “You shouldn’t throw your weight about.”

The former president was kicked off Facebook following the Jan. 6 riot at the Capitol. Facebook said at the time it believed the “risks of allowing the President to continue to use our service during this period are simply too great.”

Newsmax covered the story too:

Facebook’s parent company Meta is currently weighing whether it will lift its platform ban on former President Donald Trump, and says it’s proceeding with “great caution” in its deliberations, an interview confirmed.

Nick Clegg, the current Meta president for global affairs, told Semafor on Thursday that he will ultimately be the one to decide, first talking to experts and weighing real-world effects before making a final decision.

“It’s not a capricious decision. We will look at the signals related to real-world harm to make a decision whether at the two-year point — which is early January next year — whether Trump gets reinstated to the platform,” Clegg stated.
