A disgusting tweet from a veteran journalist mocking the murder of a top conservative politician has come under intense scrutiny.
Liberal reporter Elizabeth Drew, a frequent guest on MSNBC, took to Twitter after the brutal stabbing murder of British conservative politician David Amess, with something she apparently thought was a joke.
“A perfect last name for a pol who’s stabbed at a town meeting. British lawmaker dies after being stabbed multiple times while meeting with constituents, police say David Amess,” she said in a since deleted tweet.
The man was brutally murder, laid in a pool of his own blood, and she somehow found humor in this.
“Apols for a lapse. Tweet deleted,” she said in a subsequent tweet, not even spelling the word apology. Apparently, she could not bring herself to say she was sorry.
Apols for a lapse. Tweet deleted.

She was absolutely torched on Twitter for her vile tweet, even by liberals.
Reluctant as I am to post Fox content what this lady said is so disgusting and not funny that if it’s true she is a “frequent @MSNBC guest” that must stop immediately. Read at own risk; cannot un-imagine.https://t.co/htsF0zAkJx

You do understand that tweeting “Apols for a lapse” is just doubling down on the disrespect, don’t you? What is wrong with you?

Fucking lapse?! A decent man was brutally killed. He was loved by many. A community is mourning. His heartbroken loved ones will NEVER be the same. Make a proper apology to his family. pic.twitter.com/8gHXLYHDBm

“Apols for a lapse” Could you be any more disrespectful?

It wasn’t a lapse, that’s how you felt. How sad that you have gotten to your age and station in life and clearly don’t have a healthy grasp on respect for others or accountability for yourself.

Conservative MP Sir David Amess has died after being stabbed during a meeting with members of his constituency.
Amess, who regularly held meetings in the church, was stabbed by a man who walked in while he was meeting with and speaking to voters.
“[Amess] was treated by emergency services but, sadly, died at the scene,” said police. “A 25-year-old man was quickly arrested after officers arrived at the scene on suspicion of murder and a knife was recovered.”
CNN’s Jim Sciutto covered the news on Friday morning and provided updates from the local police.
SCIUTTO: “We have this breaking news just into CNN, and it is sad news. Police in the U.K. says a man has been arrested after a British lawmaker was stabbed several times at a church where he was meeting with constituents. CNN Salma Abdelaziz is live in London. We are now hearing reports this MP has died. Have we confirmed that? What is the latest?”
ABDELAZIZ: “Absolutely tragic news. It’s going to be horrific for this country to get this news right now. But here’s what we know. Essex police now say they are treating this as a murder inquiry. A man at the scene has died. That’s according to Essex police. We know from lee v local media and The National broadcaster, the BBC, that man is being reported as a local member of parliament, Sir David Amess. He is over 60 years old. He has more than 30 years of experience in parliament. This is a stunning, shocking event in the U.K.. The last time that something like this happened was about five years ago during Brexit, that was the murder of M.P. Joe Cox that sent shockwaves through this country, so for this to be happening again just a few years later — and of course, now the concern is about his family, his well-being, already we’re seeing on social media tweets from the London mayor, from other members of the parliament, from the wife of the prime minister extending their feelings to the family of the M.P., Sir David Amess. And again, we are still waiting to find out more from police., but what we know at this time is they arrested a man at the scene and that a knife was found at the scene, according to local media. Sir David Amess was, according to eyewitnesses speaking to local media, being treated at a church after he was stabbed multiple times during his open office hours. So we’re still waiting for more details, but what we know is that this man, this suspect, is now in police custody. The police are not looking for anyone further at this time, but we are waiting to find out more about Sir David Amess. Again, local media reporting that he has unfortunately died due to his injuries. But we’re waiting to find out more and of course we’re expecting something from the prime minister soon.”
SCIUTTO: “Disturbing news there, the death of a British M.P. David Amess following a stabbing while meeting constituents. Salma Abdelaziz, thanks for bringing us the latest. We’ll bring you updates as we have them on that story.”
