Here we go.
Excuses over funding are nothing new in government and in our bureaucratic institutions. Over 70 police officers have left the Capitol Police dept since the January 6th protests according to sources.
Their reason?
They reportedly feel ‘demoralized’ ever since the protests on the 6th. Really though?
They didn’t seem very demoralized when they let people in as per other reports which seem to be slowly surfacing.
Still though, make no mistake, the central reason they are leaving according to them is money.
Here is more on the story:
More than 70 officers have left the U.S. Capitol Police force in the aftermath of the deadly Jan. 6 insurrection, according to Gus Papathanasiou, chair of the Capitol Police Labor Committee. https://t.co/sxmFGwJtm6

NEW: More than 70 rank-and-file US Capitol Police officers have resigned or retired since the January 6 insurrection, their police union says.
The union suggests low morale within the ranks following the deadly riot is a major factor in officers’ decisions to leave.— LFG, twoshortyears (@twoshortyears) May 22, 2021
The Hill reports:
More than 70 officers have left the U.S. Capitol Police since the Jan. 6 insurrection, according to the department’s union, which said that a $1.9 billion supplemental funding package will not be enough to keep other officers from departing.
Capitol Police union chair Gus Papathanasiou said that officers are demoralized after the riot and that the $1.9 billion package that passed the House this week is insufficient, noting that nearly a quarter of the department’s officers are eligible to retire “in the next few years.”
He added that he also knows “of many younger officers who have confided that they’re considering applying to other law enforcement agencies.”
“…he worked for 23 years on the D.C. police force, leaving as commander of the Special Operations Division.” That makes his lack of planning all the more curious.

Capitol Police refused the multiple offers of extra national guard protection around the building, then waved peaceful protestors through the barriers to the front door, and invited protestors into the Capitol building on January 6th.
Does this look like a setup to anyone? https://t.co/daALmT2oE7

And here is the typical left wing MSM reporting from CNN:
“Almost one quarter of our officers are eligible to retire in the next few years,” Papathanasiou said. “These more senior officers joined right after the 9/11 attack 20 years ago and have seen two of their colleagues die in the line of duty this year. They’re now facing 6-day work weeks and double shifts for the foreseeable future. Many question why they should stay.”
On January 6, US Capitol Police officers defended the Capitol complex and lawmakers for hours against a violent mob that breached the building, seeking to stop Congress from certifying the 2020 election results.
