On a day when we should honor our fallen heroes for fighting to keep our nation free, Joe Biden did the opposite.

During Biden’s latest speech to commemorate U.S. military personnel who have died while serving in the United States armed forces, he was quoted saying democracy has never been good.

Biden made the remarks while speaking at the Arlington Cemetary.

Take a look:

Fox News had more on the story:

President Biden highlighted Ukraine’s fight against Russia in his Memorial Day remarks at Arlington National Cemetery, arguing the conflict demonstrates the need to continue fighting for freedom.

“In this moment… a war of aggression is once more being waged by Russia to snuff out freedom and democracy, the very culture and identity of neighboring Ukraine,” Biden said Monday. “Freedom has never been free. Democracy has always required champions. Today, in the perennial struggle for democracy and freedom, Ukraine and its people are on the front line fighting to save their nation.”

Biden’s remarks come after he attended the laying of the wreath ceremony at Arlington National Cemetery to commemorate Memorial Day, with Biden saying the holiday served as a reminder to honor those who have been lost by continuing to fight for freedom and democracy.

“Every generation has to defeat democracy’s mortal foes,” Biden said. “But it’s worth fighting for. If necessary, worth dying for.”

The New York Post covered Biden’s speech too:

Biden led commemorations of Memorial Day at a ceremony honoring fallen US service members at Arlington National Cemetery Monday, calling on Americans to remember the sacrifice of those who have given their lives in combat and saying, “if we forget…then we forget who we are.”

The president began by honoring the “beloved daughters and sons, who dared all, risked all and gave all to preserve and defend an idea…the idea of the United States of America today as a nation.”

“If we forget the lives that each of those silent markers represent — mothers, fathers, siblings, spouses, children — if we forget what they sacrificed, what they gave so that our nation might endure strong, free, united, then we forget who we are,” Biden said.
